Palace architecture
Royal palaces
The origins of classical Japan are generally traced back to the kingdom of Nara (710-794), which emerged contemporaneously to the Tang dynasty (618-907) in China.
By the start of the Asuka period (538-710) the kingdom of Yamato had extended its control over most of Japan and part of the Korean peninsula, and by the 5th century its rulers had introduced the title emperor (tenno).
