Agder TheatreAgder Theatre is the regional theatre for the Agder counties (Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder) and home of the Agder Theatre Company. Established in 1991, it received the status of a regional theatre in 1995 and is thus one of the youngest regional theatres in Norway. 25% of its activity is focused on its own productions and 75% is devoted to its function as the town’s arts centre. The theatre is based in Kristiansand but is also committed to touring the Agder region. It also runs a permanent 960-seat open-air amphitheatre in a quarry at Fjærheia in Grimstad, which it uses for outdoor performances during the Summer season. Agder Theatre organises a biennial international puppet festival.
Agder Theatre has three stages – Hovedscenen (main auditorium), Biscenen (black box theatre) and Intimscenen (studio theatre). It also runs Steinbruddet i Fjærheia, a permanent 960-seat open-air amphitheatre in a quarry at Fjærheia in Grimstad, which it uses for outdoor performances during the Summer season. Indoor venues air-conditioned and heated, all venues available for hire.
