Black Box theatre was established in 1985 and has since its inception been the main venue in Norway promoting contemporary performing arts. The theatre has hosted both national and international performances and the main aim is to always promote up-and-coming performing artists and groups. The theatre is owned by Norwegian Association for Performing Arts (NAPA), an umbrella organisation representing professional dance and theatre companies which is also based at Black Box.

Seating: 200 seats total on fixed risers; performing area: flexible within total area 16m W x 26m D x 8.4m H, but usually 16m W x 10m D x 8.4m H to grid with normal seating configuration, flat floor suitable for dance, dance mats available, get-in via 4m W x 4m H door at top of stairs opening onto auditorium or via 2.6m W x 3m H lift backstage; suspension equipment: overhead pipe grid for suspension of masking and lighting, transverse movable lighting bridge, 8 point hoists, max load 250kg each; soft hangings: black legs and borders; lighting: Compulite Micron 3A 999-channel computer control, 78 x 2kw, 9 x 5kw dimmers, basic rig; sound: Mackie 1604 VLZ 16-channel mixer, C-Audio, QSC and LAB 500 power amplifiers, JBL loudspeakers; stage equipment: tallescope; back stage: 1 dressing room accommodating 7 persons total

Seating: 100 seats total on fixed risers; performing area: flexible within total area 12m W x 13.5m D x 5.4m H but usually 12m W x 6m D x 5.4m H to grid with normal seating configuration, flat floor suitable for dance, dance mats available, get-in via 4m W x 4m H door backstage; suspension equipment: overhead pipe grid for suspension of masking and lighting; soft hangings: black legs and borders; lighting: Strand GSX 50-channel computer control, 48 x 2kw dimmers, basic rig; sound: Soundcraft Spirit Live 8-channel mixer, Crown power amplifiers, JBL, Electrovoice and Motorola loudspeakers; stage equipment: shared with Store Scene; back stage: 1 dressing room accommodating 5 persons total
