The regional theatre for Nordland County was established in 1979 and operates as a limited company owned by Nordland County Municipality and the Municipality of Rana, but also receives central government funding. The theatre is based at the venue of the same name in Mo i Rana, right in the middle of Norway, and has currently a staff of 23, seven of whom are artistic personnel. The theatre also hires freelancers for special productions. The main aim of Nordland theatre is to create meaningful theatre performances and the company has recently experienced an increase in audience support.
The home base of the regional theatre company comprises two stages – Kinoen (main stage) which is also used as a movie theatre and Småscenen. Heated, available for hire.
Kinoen
Dimensions: flexible within total auditorium dimensions 16m W x 10m D x 6m H, but normally 10m W x 8m D x 6m H to grid, flat stage floor; suspension equipment: 15 hand lines, max load 75kg each, 1 lighting bridge over stage, 2 lighting bridges over auditorium; soft hangings: black house curtain, black legs and borders, cyclorama; lighting: Comar 12-channel manual desk, 12 x 2.5kw dimmers, basic rig (luminaries include 30 profiles, 8 Fresnel); sound: 6-channel mixer, various power amplifiers and loudspeakers; film/video equipment: roll-down cinema screen; back stage: 4 dressing rooms accommodating 16 persons total, wardrobe, green room
Småscena
Seating: 90 removable seats total; performing area: flexible within total auditorium dimensions 10m W x 10m D x 4.5m H but normally 8m W x 8m D x 3.5m H to grid; suspension equipment: overhead pipe grid for suspension of masking and lighting; soft hangings: black legs and borders, cyclorama; sound; various equipment available on request; lighting: various equipment available on request; back stage: 4 dressing rooms accommodating 16 persons total, wardrobe, green room
