BIT Teatergarasjen (BIT) produces, co-produces and presents international and Norwegian contemporary arts, namely theatre and dance with specific emphasis on projects that encourage international collaborations between different arts disciplines. BIT was originally established as a festival in 1983/84, but in 1990 it was re-established as a theatre running all-year-round with a programme split equally between dance and theatre productions. BIT is the main producer and co-producer of international contemporary theatre and dance in Norway and is one of four professional theatres in Bergen. It co-operates with several European theatres and promoters including organisations in the UK, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The organisation usually works with established companies and all of its staff have artistic backgrounds. Air-conditioned and heated, available for hire.
BIT Teatergarasjen organises the biennial October Dance Norway festival.
